In this guide, we'll look at the 3 Must-Have tools for maintaining a freshly installed PC or a used one.

Speecy: Speccy is an advanced System Information tool for your PC, which allows you to find out what's inside your computer. Speccy will give you all the information you need.

The good:

  • Speccy gives users who are unaware of their PC specifications all the information on one easy-to-understand screen.
  • Speccy provides you exciting features where you can save the details in snapshots, XML or text files.
  • The most important point that I noticed about this utility is that it shows the avg. temperature of your CPU so that the user is able to detect whether his PC is in appropriate condition or not.

The bad:

  • Speccy may seem like an application for system administrators and power users

Overall, Speccy is an amazing utility that every PC should have.

Ninite: is a web-based tool for aggregating many of the most popular freeware on the web for you to install on your PC, running any compatible version of Windows. It's a tool bred out of sheer genius, and whilst the inner workings could be considered witchcraft by sceptics, the result is undeniably helpful.

The good:

  • The Easiest, Fastest Way to Update or Install Software
  • Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once
  • Available for Linux users
  • Ninite will skip past all of the pesky prompts to install third-party toolbars and crapware on your PC, leaving you with only the application that you intended to install in the first place.

The bad:

  • Ninite bypasses the entire dialog aspect of the installation process; you will not be able to decide on an install location for your applications.
  • Ninite is best when you find yourself with a fresh copy of Windows.

Once again Ninite is the easiest, fastest way to update or install software.

PC Decrapifier: Removes unwanted preinstalled software from Windows XP and Vista machines. Free for personal use, commercial version includes automation capability.

The Good:

  • One of the utility’s main goal is to help users remove these trialware from a newly purchased PC by trying to detect them all at once and then allowing you to remove them with ease.
  • PC Decrapifier gets the job done a whole lot quicker and easier.

The bad:

  • PC Decrapifier is not perfect and so it might pick up a few programs you’ve installed yourself if the computer has been in use for some time.
  • If needed programs are removed it may cause your PC to malfunction, so it’s best to check the list

If your concern about cleaning a computer from all the junk and crapware installed by default on a newly purchased OEM computer from the store, then PC Decrapifier wipes the unwanted junk.
